Using a common construction material, our inhabitable wall strips back the layers of a wall to the bare essentials. In pulling foam out of its usual role of sealing and filling small spaces, the expanding foam is free to take on inherent formal qualities. These bubbling expansions resulted in an unsettling aesthetic - one that is organic and soft while at the same time foreign and grotesque. Gold was applied to the form to play with meanings of value and grotesque. These associations aid in the critique of exaggeration in “luxury” and their ability to increase the real and perceived value of an object. With this dusting of gold the grotesque translates to a cave-like runway for fast fashion; a luscious translation of a common, junky material.
